Habitat and geographic distribution: <\/strong>Found in open mountainous regions, but can also be found in urban areas. Wide distribution throughout sub-Saharan Africa as well as Madagascar, the Comoros Islands and Assumption Island.<\/p>\n

Diet: <\/strong>Omnivorous. Feeds on a wide variety of invertebrates, corn, fruits, seeds, small mammals, eggs, some reptiles, molluscs and are also necrophagous (feed on carrion).<\/p>\n

Reproduction: <\/strong>Breed throughout the year. Both sexes help in the construction of the nest, which is made of small twigs on trees or rocks. The female incubates the 3-6 eggs, while the male hunts for food during the 18-19 days of incubation. Both parents care for and feed the offspring for about 43 days.<\/p>\n

Behaviour: <\/strong>Very social birds, often found in pairs or small flocks, but can also gather in large flocks of hundreds of birds, especially in areas of greater food abundance. They adapt very well to any type of environment, hence why they adapt very well to urban areas.<\/p>\n

Conservation status: <\/strong>Least Concern (IUCN)<\/p>\n
